Often bears similarities to a nerd a Japanophile is someone who 1. Thinks Japan is the greatest country/culture in the world. 2. Tries to learn the japanese language simply by watching animes and repeats lines of it later on to attempt at impressing someone, they usually get the word wrong as well 3. Has or would like to go out in cos play looking like a complete idiot dressed up as their favorite anime or RPG character 4. Thinks every female in Japan is "innocent" or "shy" 5. Is pale and overweight 6. Spends most of there time online typically playing RPGs such as Ragnarok or Final Fantasy 7. Rarely leaves the house 8. Spends a good 18 hours each week watching animes and if they recently bought a series will watch the lot in one go 9. Wants to go to Japan to live there forever and possibly marry an Asian woman, they seem to belive Japanese women are easy to pick up. 10. Spends a good length of time on foreign sites and downloads animes from the internet whether there in English or not. 11. Buys anime magazines to see what the latest "hot" anime is so they can go out and purchase it. 12. Has or would like to purchase swords from Japan to try and improve there already stupid image 13. Tries to hangout with other asians wheteher they are friends with them or not because "all asians are cool" they repeat this line often, and if they see an asian walking by them in the street they will either stare at them or talk about them for ages "Did you see that asian kid"

A non-Japanese person who has a near-indescrimate love of all things from Japan. Japanophiles watch [anime] religiously, import overpriced novelty items from Japan, collect samurai swords, play untranslated Japanese video games, eat large amounts of Japanese food, rave about how Japanese culture is superior to every other culture on the planet, etc. See also [wapanese], [egg], and [otaku].

The japanophile believed that a samurai sword could cut through solid steel like a blowtorch through butter.

I know one of these. They may, on several occasions during the course of one week, be spotted: - wearing several different shirts with [kanji] or [anime] characters on them - watching hours upon hours upon hours upon hours of anime and [AMV]s - talking about all of the greatest "[Japanese] music" songs - trying to draw [manga] but doing a really terrible job - trying to impress Japanese people with their vast knowledge of the person's home country - wanting eagerly to be included in any conversation involving anime - calling self an [otaku] - insisting on using [chopsticks] and talking about how skilled they are with chopsticks - talking about [martial arts] and how they are skilled in it - eating [sushi]/other japanese food and talking about it a lot, and making sure people see them eating it And the big one... Saying stupid, random phrases from animes to make it seem like they know Japanese. They actually think you are impressed by this. They have no real idea about how to speak the language but they pretend to. Oh, and adding -[san] or other [suffixes] to names in real life and online.

Most of the time japanophiles know very little about anime, manga and overall japanese [culture] and put on the act to impress others who are more knowledgeable. They may have low [self-esteem].

A person who essentially rapes the culture of Japan. These people are anime freaks, and know absolutely NOTHING of the Japanese culture except from what they have seen in anime. They may think it quite cool to add '-san' or '-chan' to the end of people's names, use their 4-word Japanese vocabulary in everyday situations and wear black all the time. These people generally only make friends with other Japanophiles and are seen mostly as losers. These people watch a bunch of cheap, crappy animes that have gotten really popular because of the Japanophile culture. These animes include Inu-Yasha, Full-Metal Alchemist, Sailor Moon, and Naruto.

"Konichiwa. ^-^ Inu-yasha is on\! It's my favorite because Kagome is SO kawaii." (something a japanophile would say)

6. (Japanophile) (99↑, 48↓)
An alternative to [Wapanese]. This is simply a defintion for someone who appreciates things related to Japan. Similar to a [xenophile]. It's also considored an insult to critisize people who refuse to read American comics, instead of just [manga]. Likewise with cartoons as opposed to [anime].

Someone completely obsessed with Japanese culture. May also refer to someone who is whoring out the culture, aka, Gwen Stefani. Can also verge on extremely annoying.

Girl 1: That person is sooooo being a Gwen Stefani Man 1: I despise Japanophiles. I hope they all die. Along with the many other groups of people I want to die.

A japanophile can be several things. Depending on the context of the word. It comes from a combination of the English word Japan and the greek word for love. In other words "love of Japan". A Japanophile is: 1) Someone who loves Japan so much they become a naturalized Japanese citizen like Arudo Debito. 2) Has and extensive interest in learning Japanese or has a strong interesting in doing so. 3) Has a strong interest in Japanese pop-culture such as comics, animated shows, dramas, game shows, music, movies, ect. 4) Has a strong interest in Japanese traditional culture such as mythology and folklore more so than other countries. 5) Some who takes a strong pro-Japanese opinion on things despite not being Japanese. This includes defending Yasukuni visits, Nanking Denial, agreement with Japanese draconian immigration law and agreement with Japanese Nationalists in general.

A person who has a high level of interest in Japanese culture, language, art, etc. This interest may have been sparked by the current [anime] fad, or it may have been sparked by something else entirely. A person who is a Japanophile is not necessarily unwashed, overweight, only interested in things from Japan, etc. This describes someone who is mentally ill, not someone with an interest or hobby. Many people who are very interested in Japan are also interested in many other things. Being a Japanophile is no different than being very interested in any other thing, to include American culture, a specific television show, or a particular science such as biology.

I am very interested in Japan and other Asian cultures, and I have been since a child. [Anime] was a logical step following my interest. Therefore I could easily be considered a Japanophile. I am also very interested in biology, genetics, American comics, the French language, Celtic mythology, world history, martial arts (to include non-Asian forms such as fencing), ballet, and baking.

A Japanophile (or Nipponophile) is an individual with a love for or interest in all Japanese things. Some notable Japanophiles include Lafcadio Hearn and William Adams, the latter of which personally knew the illustrious Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. What Japanophilia does not indicate however is the merit of one's character; a truth that conflicts with the popular perception of Japanophiles as necessarily being a vocal minority of socially, intellectually, and hygienically inept youngsters. The term is often applied dubiously to these troubled youths by people who do not appear to distinguish between Japanophilia and infatuation with Japanese animation and/or other related niche hobbies and interests.

Tom enjoys the odd anime; he isn't exactly a Japanophile. Shelly studies Japanese anthropology. She loves onsen, nihonshu, and Hokuto no Ken among other things. Shelly could be considered a Japanophile.

One who lives off of pocky and ramen, refers to Japanese cartoons as anime, and spends more time per week trying to write a full sentence in Kanji then they do bathing.

Go to an anime convention, you'll see at least twenty of them with their hair dyed white answering to 'Inu-Yasha' while carrying large 'swords' made of cardboard and aluminum foil.

An enthusiast of Japanese exports, including the language, anime, manga, pop-culture, music, electronics, people, food, religion or culture.

A non-japanese who are a japanese wanna-be and are sickly obsessed with japan and japanese youth culture. Often poorly imitates japanese people & culture, they are very insulting to japan.

A sad individual obsessed with anything Japanese. They usually spend the day listening awful Japanese pop bands while masterbating to pictures of sailor moon. Overtime most Japanophiles recover from their obsession, and simply try to forget that part of their past.

The japanophile suddenly realizing how lame anime is, reacted in a way only a true japanophile would, by ritualisticly killing himself with a samurai sword.

Someone with a prominent interest in japan or japanese pop culture. Whether through music, japanese drama, anime, manga, language, art, history etc.. Being a japanophile does not make one a sociophobe or one without other interested -.-' It can be someone who begins enjoying japanese popculture and extending themself to learning the language and more about the culture and way of life. Many even hope to live or visit the country. Can even be one learning the japanese language for a considerable amount of time, into fluency.

A big stereotype that people give to other people who have a strong interest in the Japanese culture. I am a Japanophile and I don't do/am the following: -Eat sushi every day -Watch anime -Pale and overwieght -No life -Cosplay -Think that if I go to Japan I will be welcomed as a god. I am perfectly conscient that they are racist. Japanophiles with the above caracteristics should be called Wapanese instead of Japanophile because they are a shame to the people who really like the Japanese culture for the GOOD reasons.
